My hospital trialed it last week for 2 days. Mainly the pediatric dept and
NICU looked at it. I talked with one of the educators yesterday and she
said it was a great machine. They used it in the out patient chemo area on
one child. The child was stuck usually at least 8 times for an IV and he
was easily access with the use of their machine. The mother was so
impressed with it! (Not sure why the child didn't have central line)
Anyway, it was a successful experience. Another infant in the ICU was
accessed quite easily as well and some kids in the NICU.
The nurse like it a lot! We are looking at involving as many areas in the
hospital as we can to make our argument better for it's purchase. It is
expensive but we thought if the peds floor, the PICU, the NICU and the PICC
team could all use it , perhaps "selling" it to administration (people with
the money,) would be easier!
