Well, if the patient is on Vanco, a Midline is definitely NOT an option. To
risky, an infiltration of Vanco would not be noticed with a Midline,
possibly leading to serious damage. How about a femoral line ending in the
IVC? A midline would work if they moved some meds to PO-like Zyvox instead
of the Vanco.

Subject: SVC Syndrome

Hello again,
I am presented with a patient with lung CA and subsequently SVC
Syndrome. As a result of this, the pt's extremities are extremely
swollen making the pt a very hard stick, thus the PICCLINE request.
I understand that catheters in the SVC are contraindicated in this
case, would a midline be the only option in this case or are there
other options I haven't thougt about? Is it even an option at this
point? Pt has numerous meds like steriods, vanco, zosyn and fluids.

Thanks in advance.
