I read another spec somewhere that indicated 25,000 mounts.

so 25,000 mount / 1,000,000 head passes.....

 

I'd say you can get more than 12 writes out of em.

We're reviewing our backup policy documentation, in particular we're trying to define how often we replace tapes.

 

The tapes in question are LTO-3. Management wants to replace them after 12 write passes, but that seems a little low to me?

 

What are other shops doing?
