The way I see it, the problem applies to *most* columns. With the Base/ Last/Author fields mentioned by the first poster, the content is usually floating in a sea of empty space. In addition, the columns for data/properties/lock status (both in WC and repo) only display icons, so they should always snap to a small size.

Every time I start Versions I proceed to change the column sizes under then they need be and the Name column is too small. I like to maximize 2) Remember a user's column sizes - They will likely work with similar content so being able to tune the sizes as desired would be a nice way
