Hi everyone, Thanks for voicing your concerns and support :)
We're still here, and we're not planning to go anywhere or shift our focus away from Versions. I'm sorry for the lack of communications from our side. Directly after the 1.0 launch, we focussed on fixing bugs that we introduced in some of 1.0's new features and on making sure that everyone who bought Versions could actually register the application. The work there varied from making sure registration would not choke on weird hardware configurations, to implementing support for volume licenses and making sure that registration data is stored correctly in a managed networked environment. Not the most glamorous problems to solve, but very important to some Versions customers who would otherwise not be able to actually use the application. After 1.0.3's release we now have most of the above mentioned issues behind us. Right now we are now trying to solve some of the more complicated things that we never quite got around to during the frantic public beta and launch periods. These things range from rethinking parts of Versions' interface, to dealing with limitations of Subversion itself (One neat example for the technically inclined: The root cause of the by now infamous bug, where non-ascii file-names show up twice in working copies from repositories that had those files commited from other platforms, lies in a combination of how HFS+ stores file names with special characters and how SVN does not take that peculiarity —which is unique to HFS+— into account. We're still trying to work out the best way to work around this problem). We aren't planning to wait with the next update until we have every 'big' ticket in our bug-tracker resolved, but I thought this would give you all some insight into why we haven't shipped any updates for a while. Besides these bigger problems, there are also some smaller nuisances and bugs that we've been working on. An update that addresses a bunch of these will be out soon, so please stay tuned... We're extremely proud that so many people use Versions everyday and that some of you care so much about the app that you raise questions/ start discussions about its future overe here, and we're not taking any of that for granted. :) Cheers, - Dirk the Versions team On Mar 13, 11:51 am, Marijn <[email protected]> wrote: > On Mar 12, 7:27 pm, cdn <[email protected]> wrote: > > > mmm ... meant "are going to shift your focus..." > > > Also, please don't take the post to be overly hostile.
