I have Encountered a similar issue to this with renamed files

the end result ended up being I had to  create the file/folder in its  
correct place in the working copy so subversion/versions can see it.
then delete it or try the update first.
I think its an issue with subversion referencing a non-existant file  
or folder so it does not know what to do.
