Bart, I had the same problem. Resolved it by copying two libraries from the patched (+unicode_patch, version 1.6.5) macport subversion:
cp /opt/local/lib/libsvn_subr-1.dylib /Applications/Versions.app/ Contents/MacOS/SA161.bundle/Contents/lib/ cp /opt/local/lib/libapr-1.dylib /Applications/Versions.app/Contents/ MacOS/SA161.bundle/Contents/lib/ of course please backup the original versions first. My primary SVN activity is reading files, so I didn't test it extensively. And, of course, please remember that this is unsupported dirty hack, and in case something doesn't work afterwards please don't ask or blame the application developers.
