To avoid adding the invisible files in the first place, edit your ~/.subversion/config file and add the desired patterns to the global- ignores section. This affects all SVN clients for your user, also including Terminal, Xcode, Eclipse, etc.

Dear all, is there any way to apply an ignore on a set of files, and to commit this property? For example, using a shell version of SVN, it is possible to write: svn propset svn:ignore ._*.* . that ignores all the Mac hidden files (those starting with "._") in the current directory. It seems to me that this is not possible with Versions. Am I wrong? It is quite frustrating that everytime I add a folder, all the hidden files are added too, thus I would like to avoid this situation.
