This is most likely related to the underlying SVN actions, not Versions. If you 
were to type `svn diff somefile.psd` in Terminal, you'd probably get a textual 
diff there as well. A good approach is probably to assign an appropriate binary 
MIME type for such files.

http://filext.com/file-extension/PSD lists "image/photoshop" and "image/psd", 
and "application/photoshop" as options, though I don't know if they are 
standard or just made-up. http://www.webmaster-toolkit.com/mime-types.shtml 
might be be helpful as well.

It's worth looking up the correct MIME type, because that's the type Apache 
(and other programs) will use as the content type if the file is requested 
directly for download.
