The new datetime axis support is extremely useful -- thank you. I've thought of one improvement which would be very handy: an option to put date labels between the ticks, rather than lined up with them.
This is useful when plotting data with a higher time resolution than you can show on an axis. For example, when plotting several years of data at daily or monthly resolution, you may want only to label the years -- by putting a tick at each 1 January (as Veusz already does), and putting the year labels centred between the ticks (which I can't work out how to do). Similarly, you might want to label only the dates, while showing many points within each day -- again, it's clearer if the date label is centred on the relevant day, rather than being placed with the tick at midnight. The chart on this page shows the idea: http://www.economist.com/businessfinance/displaystory.cfm?story_id=14587601 In case that disappears behind a paywall, this one is similar: http://junkcharts.typepad.com/junk_charts/nyt/ and here's a page showing a hack to achieve the same effect in Excel: http://peltiertech.com/WordPress/date-axis-with-centered-years/ Best regards, Paul. _______________________________________________ Veusz-discuss mailing list [email protected] https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/veusz-discuss
