I've made a beta test release for the upcoming Veusz 1.10 release (called veusz-1.9.99). Please give it a go. Below are the relevent part of the release notes.

Unfortunately the listening mode doesn't work on the Windows binaries. It seems hard to make a program in windows which can listen to the console without popping up a console on normal start.

The new examples (polar and boxplot) are not on the website yet.
