Just to confirm: it works on OS X Mavericks (10.9.0). I’ve tested launching, loading a vsz file, and exporting to PDF.
I did notice that, on first launch, it wouldn’t progress past the splash screen until I clicked on the Veusz icon in the dock (the issue you fixed in 1.17.1.1). However, on subsequent launches it worked as expected. I don’t seem to be able to reproduce this, so it’s probably not something to worry about. Cheers, Paul.
