Once a year on a regular basis. I go to a lodge in northern Ontario. It's a pretty good size lake and the main quarry is walleye. Since I go up in mid-July, they're mainly in 20-25 feet of water. Not real conducive to fly fishing. So I drag out my my three spinning rods, one trolling rod plus my two fly rods. Trip is usual about 70-30, chunking & winding-fly fishing. I've caught a dozen pike on the fly rod the last 3 years and maybe 3 or 4 on lures. The only other time I'll do it is if I'm flounder fishing with my buddy. Again, I take a fly rod with me and I'll use it if there's any surface action with bluefish or we're drifting in shallow enough water that I can get my fly down and keep it down during the drift.
