It is interesting but I am exactly the opposite. Why would I keep a big trout. I have not caught bunches but I have caught enough over 5 pounds to remember my heart stop as I hooked, played and landed them. I think of the time it has taken this fish to get that size. This fish is one that needs to regenerate the life of the river. I take a picture, thank them and let them go. My father can't get this part of fishing. He was from a time when you kept everything. However, he also would have fish for many months in the freezer. If my wife wants trout, I head to a put and take stream (not now of course - aren't many trout in Hawaii) take a few and head home. Every time I would let a trout go when my dad was with me I could hear him gasp. I really miss my time on the river. In December I will be in Utah for Christmas and I will get some time then.
