There are several versions, one with the bead chain above the hook shank, one with the bead chain below the hook shank and the bullethead. Fo myself, I do not like the idea of placing the bead chain at the bend as I like to keep this area of the hook as clear as possible for maximum hooking ability. With a couple of beads in the way, I'm not sure that it would hook as well.
You are talking about eyes, whereas back in the 70s when this fly was developed, I suspect that the weight of the bead chain was the main consideration and more important than it's appearance as eyes. But I'm wondering, why the pattern has the bead chain eyes at the hooks eye. The pattern should represent a shrimp, therefore I expect the eyes at the hooks bend, where the feelers are. Any idea, why they mount the eyes at the patterns 'butt'? Rene --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VFB Mail" group.
