There are several versions, one with the bead chain above the hook shank,
one with the bead chain below the hook shank and the bullethead. Fo myself,
I do not like the idea of placing the bead chain at the bend as I like to
keep this area of the hook as clear as possible for maximum hooking ability.
With a couple of beads in the way, I'm not sure that it would hook as well.

You are talking about eyes, whereas back in the 70s when this fly was
developed, I suspect that the weight of the bead chain was the main
consideration and more important than it's appearance as eyes.

yes, I found it there, several years ago.
But I'm wondering, why the pattern has the bead chain eyes at the hooks eye.
The pattern should represent a shrimp, therefore I expect the eyes at the
hooks bend, where the feelers are.
Any idea, why they mount the eyes at the patterns 'butt'?
