DANG Iain.............you must be frickin' psyhic or somethin'..........i was
just about to email you (by way of.....), and figured i'd refresh
first.........BINGO, there you are.
My Claret and Mallards are done.......a bit different than the standard
pattern.......first of all, i did them on a size 10 hook. As Don Bastian, Andy
Brasko and others do them traditionally on size 8 and size 6 here in the states
(and fish them in those sizes).....i figured size 10 was not at all to big. The
hook i used is a Japanese brand you may have never heard of.....beautiful hook.
It's a Justice 2001 Keel WB Barbless Wave Barbless Keel 2X Long 2X Heavy. It's
Black and has an up turn to the last 8th if an inch or so and the eye. Real
beautiful bend and the point points down a bit.....very cool hook. Misa got 'em
free in Japan when she did a show over there in Yokohama a few years back. Hope
ya'll like 'em.
I also put little dubbed heads on 'em just before the regular head.....i just
like the look of that. They came out pretty buggie cause i used real Seal for
the bodies and the dubbed heads. I also did the little tip/tag with Gold Mylar
Tinsel and the ribing with Silver Twist......the things are somewhat
bastardized, lmao. Water based head cement as they ARE for fishing, and
nothin' that special to look at. I'll have 'em in the mail by Mon. Later, mark
