Many of you knew Al through his tireless teaching of fly fishing, a wonderful man has passed on. He lost his fight with cancer early Wednesday morning. Al was a regular at Sowbug where he taught a free fly fishing class for local underprivileged children. He was a Master Casting Instructor and a mentor for many of us here in Texas and all over. It was not unusual to see Al pass up a chance to fish because there was someone who could use some instruction. This is the note that came to us about arrangements:

For those of you who would like to make a donation in honor of Al Here are the two places to send them. There will not be any memorial service because Al is still teaching. He donated his body to the North Texas Medical School for the study of cancer. The family said there could be no greater memorial than what Al had on the 6th. (about 150 of his friends met at Dinosaur State Park at Glen Rose and had about 5 hours with Al and his family. He was very weak but was clowning and acting as if nothing was wrong with him, even though he was confined to a wheelchair)
