Ginger and mottled wing feathers for salmon fly wings

Herl from Ginger and mottled wing feathers for trout fly herl bodies

There was a fly I saw several years ago, think it was in the first 'Flytyers
Almanac', that used the quill as an under body for a sandeel pattern. Looked
pretty good to. The lengths of herl are also used as an over wing on saltwater
patterns. Ashley

Now, I have a Question. All of us use peacock herl in making fly bodys,
etc. but how do ya'll use the rest of the feather. This is a Dumb question I
know, but I don't know
the answer. And, as ya'll know, this Ole Texan ain't bashful.
