Thanks for the link, Gary.  Sure there will be something there for future
projects.

Though, what I want are full hides that have been dyed and then cut into
thin strips.  What makes these strips relatively expensive, is someone made
the decision somewhere that the strips needed to be cut thin.  There's
potentially some wastage.  The strips that are accidentally cut too thin or
cut off the hide are marketed in small packaged quantities as ultra-thin
strips.  There's a LOT of variation strip-to-strip in width and surface
texture of the tanned skin.

It's a fine material to work with, but hard to source, at least so far...
