Hi all;

Been reading the recent posts on vises, have to agree that the Peak vise is a
real bargain and a quality unit.  I was going to purchase one until I saw the
Mayfly vise at Sow Bug and purchased it.

I've been tying on a Danvise for about 4yrs. and like it overall but find it
difficult to use for smaller patterns, I just can't get my materail hand where
I want it.  The Mayfly vise excells for me at tying smaller flies, it aligns my
material hand just where I want it.  A couple of things I don't like about the
Mayfly:  the rotary tension device is a little crude, I have a difficult time
getting the tension just the way I want it. It's either too loose or too tight.
I think I can resolve this myself with modifications to the tension bolt, some
type of better bearing surface on the end where it touches the central shaft.
I also find the rotary handle too small, I just grab the back of the vise and
turn it in my hand, again soemthing I think I can modify myself to suit my
needs.

Overall I find this vise to be an incredible bargain, in my opinion worth every
penny I paid for it.
