I've had to fish with right-hand reels on trips when I used borrowed rods. Hated it- lost the feel and some of the enjoyment, as it felt awkward. I can cast easily left-handed, but then I always swap immediately to the right hand. I have been a spin-fisherman all my life and have reeled left-handed, likewise with my fly reels. The timing of a strip-strike has to be precise, and I'd rather do that with my practiced hand- the left one. The Pfleuger at Cabelas changes to left-hand, says the product specialist. I'm waiting to get a reel from a friend, and I'll see if that works 1st. This week-end I'll use the Martin I have and just reach under the reel to the opposite side to operate the spring wheels like I used to do when I was a kid. Like I mentioned, this is for one circumstance that I know of. The rest of the time it's flyfishing as usual.

It's much easier to just switch hands. ;-)
