One of my friends I thought to make his bamboo rod, took it to Colorado
a couple of weeks ago. He ran into a fellow that had some old
flyfishing things that he wanted to get rid of and offered them to my
friend for free.

One was a beautiful better made wicker Creel
with all the leather on the creel and straps in very great shape. In
the Creel was two reels with silk lines, one being a Medalist and the
other a South bend. The silk lines are in great shape. Also in the
creel was an old fly box, the celluloid type with the rotating lid with
over 100 very well tied dry flies. All in very good condition.

Then I opened the front leather pocket and there was a metal fly box
wrapped on a wetfly sheepskin wallet. I opened the flybox and my jaw
dropped. The flies all had hair hackles ala Grant. I have Grant's book
and checked the flies and now I am sure they are Grant's flies. Some of
these flies are woven like Pott's Flies, There seems to be a series of
flies, all with hair hackles. There must be 40 to 50 flies in that box.
Now for the rods. One is an old Heddon
with a swelled butt." Heddon" written across the flats, that is the
only marking on the rod. It is a 3 piece rod in real rough shape, I did
not measure the length. It appears to be a light weight line rod. There
were two other no name rods that had been re-wrapped, looked like low grade
rods with chrome plated reel seats. All rods were in Aluminum tubes.

Now to the Arend. It is in original condition with one tip. It is an 8'
rod. The tip needs a bit of straightening but is fishable as is.
This
friend just is getting started in Bamboo so he did not know what he
has. I know about the flies but any info on the rods would be appreciated

He is the kind of person that can fall on a bucket of Crap and come out
smelling like two roses. A good friend and I don't envy him.LOL
