Jack, you are correct. SCAM!
This email has no recipient shown and there's no identity in the text, so
it's a one-message-fits-all con-job. The message came to me twice, probably
once from the VFB and once from the personal email file that was hacked.
Joyce would never send such a letter to the general VFB list, and she has so
many friends here who would personally step in if she addressed or called
them off list. Since she had access to a computer (so the letter says), she
could have reached one of us easily.
What we can do is forward this email to the authorities and they can try to
trace it.
BTW, My dog MT (Meal-ticket) swallowed a bone that got stuck and he needs
emergency surgery. Please someone send me $2000 for the veternarian. Cash
only please.

Joyce personally to verify its truth, do not send anything. Joyce I hope
this is a scam and you are not really in trouble. If you are, please find
a way to make this contact verifiable so that we can help.
Contact the US Embassy if you are really in need of help. They can
usually help you.
