Wes,
Thank you. We purchased a 12’ and a 40 # electric motor. We sure are enjoying
it, It does handle the rough water well. Much better than the john boat or
13.3’ canoe we have had. Again thank you.
Chuck.

Subject: Re: [VFB] Porta-Bote ,porta boat???

Chuck,

I owned a Porta-Bote for over ten years. Used it with a 30# thrust electric
trolling motor. Generally the boat is easy to handle, is very good in rough
weather as the hull absorbs impacts nicely. Newer models are better designed
and more trouble-free than the older model I had.

These boats hold their value very well. I recently sold mine to get a new
pontoon boat, and the sale price after a decade was only $25 less than I
originally bought the boat for.

I don't know if I would like floating rivers in the craft, though we did it.
Depends on how rough the water will be.

One thing I did not like about the boat is that it doesn't have a flat floor,
so difficult to stand in for fly casting.

Perfect boat for an RV, however.

If you have other questions or concerns, let me know.

If anybody has had any experience with the Porta-boat, I would appreciate it.
We would be hauling it on our 5th wheel RV. For use on smaller lakes, and
rivers.
Plan to use a 40+ pound thrust electric motor on a 12 footer.
We now carry a 13’ canoe, to small if the wind comes up. Used canoes for
years but
as we age they are harder to handle.

  Thanks Chuck
