Folks: My dear friend and fishin' buddy passed away this afternoon at about 1pm, surrounded by 40+ family and friends. His heart muscle was just too damaged to heal itself, even with the bypass surgery. That, along with the pneumonia he had was just too much for his body to fight off. I believe with all my heart that he is in a better place than we are and that I WILL see him again someday. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers, and please continue them for his family as he left behind a wife of 44 years, a son, and a daughter. Three grand kids, and about 7 brothers and sisters along with a ton of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. I never met a person who knew Carlis Ivey who didn't like him right away. I remember vividly the first night my wife and I met him and his wife. My daughter and his (who are like sisters to this day) daughter were in school and in the band together, and my daughter was to spend the night at their house. Well, we took my daughter to their house to drop her off, and all these ppl were in the front yard with guitars, banjos etc. And there was this tall lanky guy with a beard halfway to his waist, who was playing the "washtub" (If you don't know what that is, google it, but they drill a hole into a #2 washtub, then tie a rope through the hole, then connect the other end to a broom handle, then "strum" the rope like a bass, and it sounds JUST like a big bass guitar). Anyway, they had a country/gospel band and would go all around, playing in tiny churches etc. But he was nice as he could be that night, and never wavered in the nearly 15 years I knew him. He'd give you the shirt off his back. He loved God, and he loved his Family. Chuck
