Hi Joe:

You did very well and a first edition too! Like you, I was looking for a long
time for the same book when I chanced upon a copy from the estate sale
of a member of my fly fishing club. I think that I paid $20.00 for mine which
is a fifth 1977 printing of the original 1971 edition. However, inside the book
was a letter from Vernon Hidy postmarked Boise Idaho 29 Apr 1980. The letter
was addressed to the deceased former owner of the book and an author
in his own right, Van Egan. The letter talks about "Roddy" being Van Egan's
former neighbour and well known author, the late Roderick Haig-Brown.

That is why back in March/April of this year, I was trying to join the forum
entitled "the International Brotherhood of the Flymph." I did join this forum
eventually
but so far have had little time to spend on it apart from reading some of the
comments posted there.
