Joyce,

Yes to all parmered feathers or wrapped feathers. Rope-dub on stationary core,
compress (the advantage) for thickness, and wrap.

Peacock
Ostrich
Pheasant tail
Aftershafts
Hackles

Use threads, mono, wire, or bite tippets for core. I use super-gels, ss wire,
and bite tippets for salt-water flies.

When tying with a "ruff" of ostrich herl on a salmon type fly, do you
reinforce the delicate herl with thread as is often done with peacock?
inquiring minds want their carefully tied flies to stand up to fishing. Thanks
for your help. Joyce
