You keep us going Peggy, you and all our swapmeisters. The heart and soul of the VFB started out with swaps. I hope it continues to be. As you have said so well, there is no better way to encourage ourselves and others to become better learners, teachers, and tiers. I joined this group when the last 100 caddis fly swap was finishing up. I was too late to participate. 100 was a lot of flies to tie. But that was nothing compared to the host (Byard)who had to tie 100 flies and then sort, package, and mail out about 10,000 flies. I think he did that twice, maybe three? times. Whew! My hat is off to anyone who hosts a swap. Someday I'll take the plunge. Maybe soon.
Gary L Webb When I organize a swap, I first looked at what had been done; now I look at what I want to tie and have not done yet, and the second fly leads from last years swap that I organized. Example, streamers, I started with Carrie Stevens and the usual Maine streamers, then went on to the other lesser known creators. Now the the real fish able ones. For next year we will maybe do the Nick Lambrough Heron series and something else.
