I looked at t Threaded Boxes. Too expensive for me. I don't feel I would get
enough use out of it.

I also use one of these, as long as the fly doesn’t have a lot of hackle.
Then I use my C&F threader box.

Have you considered a magnetic hook threader like this?

Sitting on my porch looking out the window at the river I noticed a large

try. I keep a rod ready under the porch but I had a Froggie tied on the leader
so I had to change to a trout fly. This took me at least ten minuets as my
eyesight is not what it used to be. I tied on a sz 16 Green Mylar body Soft
Hackle that was a killer the last time I was on the river. Got down to the
dock and made a few casts, no takes. Then two boats came past my dock right
through the feeding lane. This put the trout down. Waited a bit and the rises
started again. Made a few more casts and still no takes. Switched over to a
Brown Soft Hackle, another ten minuets lost.
