This phenomenal young lady was one of Amanda's best friends and mentor in
collage at McMurry in Adeline TX. Please, I ask you to keep Amanda, the
family and all of Laurens friends in your prayers. It pains my heart to see
my daughter in such grieving pain at the loss of such an influential friend.

SAN ANTONIO -- A woman whose body was discovered inside a northwest San
Antonio park Tuesday evening suffered multiple sharp-force injuries,
according to the Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office.

The body of 24-year-old Lauren Michelle Bump was found inside O.P. Schnabel
Park in the 9600 block of Bandera road on New Year's Eve by visitors,
according to an SAPD report.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner's office ruled Bump's death a homicide.

According to the police report, the victim's body was discovered by two
people walking along a paved trail after having a picnic. A vehicle
believed to be connected to the victim was towed to the city pound, SAPD
said.

The police department received the report around 5:45 p.m. Tuesday. Their
investigation is ongoing. Police Chief William McManus said SAPD did not
have a suspect.

"We don't have any indication out there right now as to whether it was a
relationship or whether it was someone who may have been mentally ill. We
just don't know," McManus said.

It is unclear whether Bump showed up to the park alone.

"Appears she was either exercising or just walking," McManus said.

The woman's family identified the victim as a senior at Harding University
in Searcy, Ark. Bump graduated from O'Connor High School in 2007. She had
planned on becoming a physician's assistant, her family said.

The family told KENS 5 that they are offering a cash reward for information
leading to an arrest in the case. They urged anyone who can help to contact
San Antonio police.

Lauren Bump's family has set up a memorial fund in her name at Frost Bank.
