Jack; No Colour Preserver threads are usually described as NCP and have special uses. Especially when matching a factory applied wrap due to damage or guide wear. Some of the very early Sage rods had a two tone brown wrap which used a regular dark brown colour main wrap and light tan NCP thread. I purchase a sage blank and matched the factory wrap.
The only time that it is beneficial to use colour preserver is when one is adding a metallic trim wrap of gold or silver because the tag that is trapped under the thread will show through the wraps if you don’t use colour preserver and this can spoil an otherwise neat job. I don't like the look of the No Color Preserver Nylon threads or really using color preserver at all. Am I just being eccentric or are there others in this camp too?
