Pete I've heard of it. Even tied a few. Learned it from an older guy in the
club I belong about 25 years ago. I was looking for a pattern to match a
particular hatch. I don't think I've tied since then.

Passed by my local pond and saw another fly fisher there (rare) just reeling
them in (very rare), hand over foot, thankfully catch and releasing or I'd need
to find myself a new local pond to fish - he was catching that many - but when
I stopped by to ask what he was using, he gave a sly grin and said an older
pattern called the "Hank Roberts White Gloved Howdy". I shouldn't be as
surprised as I am, but seeing as it was a fellow who looked fresh out of
puberty, pimples and all, I was a bit surprised he was using an older pattern.
He never did let me get a look at the fly, so I'm on a "quest" of sorts, to
find a pattern recipe and example photo to get an idea of what the end product
should look like and how to tie it.
