So my not-so-brilliant body decided it would play a trick on me and would
suddenly go into what the hospital staff called "DKA" - Diabetic
ketoacidosis - which essentially means that while the blood sugar levels of
a "normal" person are in the 70 to 100 range, mine were 1085 when I was
admitted to the hospital and rushed immediately to the Emergency Room and
then passed to the Intensive Care Unit. Two weeks later, and 43 pounds
lighter (supposedly from my organs eating themselves, and the muscles
around them, and not from fat loss), I was discharged from the hospital and
told I'm now a diabetic in the "severely diabetic" category with blood
sugar levels still in the upper 200's to lower 300's. Still on short term
disability and off work, until they get my blood sugars back down in the
more "normal" range.

Biggest pain in the neck, besides my general weakness, is that my eyesight
comes and goes with the blood sugar levels. I'm told this will get back to
normal when my blood sugar levels return back to more reasonable levels,
but for the time being, I am struggling with tying anything smaller than
size 12. and to be honest, size 12 is kind of a challenge too, but I
refuse to go much larger than that.

Does anyone have any *relatively *simple fly patterns that they could send
me off-list for some size 12 flies (dries or nymphs preferred please, as I
have plenty of soft hackles and streamers and I don't have much opportunity
for use of salt or salmon and my eyes aren't up for traditional wets or
full dressed atlantic salmon or spey, etc.)? I'm not looking for the
simplicity of a san juan worm, but then again, I'm not much better than
that with my eyesight right now... perhaps it is wishful thinking that I
say I wish for something a bit more complex than that... but I desire a
challenge.

Thanks for any suggestions in the way of patterns you can send off-list!
-Pete
