Hello all. Glad to see some familiar names again. I have been inactive for many years now... completely. I stayed away from the entire fly-fishing world intentionally. I wanted that break in 2013. The tying had come to a point where I tied "because of tying" and I needed to take a year off to not get tired of it. My tying room however turned into an extension of the basement and suddenly there was no room in there. I couldn't open doors or drawers. My tying stuff was locked in by stuff "that might be useful one day"... and it was forgotten. The interest really was severely hurt and disappeared for real. The stuff is blocked this time too, but now it's blocked by stuff that will disappear, since this time it's things from the recent move... that are waiting to get unpacked and organized in our new home.
But I have "planned to start again" several times before, just to suddenly forget about it. Work has been my entire life. It's too easy to take work home when you're in IT. You don't even have to take something home when you have it all online. I was working even on Christmas Eve, in the sofa with the children opening presents by the tree on the other side of my computer. I work in bed, developing in my head. Work and sleep. But it comes to a point when your body just says STOP. I have been warned many times. But "It only happens to others"... yeah right. There are no supermen. But this time I'll approach it differently. This time I'm getting into the tying world first... so I don't "forget" to start tying. I have joined the forums again to create some pressure. But watching pictures of flies and seing people discussing tying and discussing tying *myself* has woken up the interest for real again now. I can feel it in my stomach.
