A quick take on the scud question. Having watched these in both
aquariums and natural lake situations, I observed the following: scuds
swim in the straight-out position and only curl-up when they stop (so I
tie all mine on straight shank hooks); they swim quickly but smoothly so
I fish my imitations with foot-long smooth strips with 3 - 5 second
