Pat,
Are you spinning the wool in a dubbing loop? If so, load the loop
_very_sparsely. Spinning the loop will compact the wool. Stroke the wool
to the rear with each wind around the shank, comb or brush the wool before
trimming it. This will give you an even distribution of wool for the head.

The body of this fly is spun sculpin wool, and the technique used is the
same as i described. (DSCN3371 & 72)

Let me know if this helps.

Cheers,
Tim

Subject: [VFB] Wool head sculpins

I have been trying to master the fine art of tying woolhead sculpins for a
while, but my heads never turn out very well. They will catch fish, but most
fisherman would refuse to take or maybe just give it a small nibble. I like
to be able to catch both, plus I believe if I can tie these woolheads better
I would get more fish to take it. Any woolhead masters out there want to
give me a few pointers?

Thanks,

Pat Eller
