I'm sure you could. The foam will still float well. When an ant is struggling in the water he's wiggling his legs as well as flexing and bending so why not? Neither of these patterns actually imitate either of these movements so what the heck huh. I just dead drifted it in mostly riffles and pocket water on the slough and Lamar in YNP and it did pretty well for me. I haven't used the pattern anywhere else. Try it.

Can you use a caddis hook in this pattern...it would not provide a flat float..as the hook is curved slightly. Would this provide a realistic float in the water?
