As Bob H. put it, "He (Gary) always struck me as a person who was alway
willing to share with another." I agree totally. He shared so much of his
knowledge with those in our community. What about some type of tribute swap?
Now, I know that there is already a LaFontaine Swap going and I do not want
to step on anybody's toes. So, I want to make this different. What if we tied
up flies that we make up oursleves, but that use some kind of technique that
Gary passed on to, shared with, or taught us (etc.)? For example, if we do
this swap, I will create a fly using peacock and touch dubbing (A technique
Gary taught me at a show in Portland, Ore.). Tyers could pull techniques from
any of his innovative books, items they learned at shows, etc. Gary seemed to
be a teacher who looked at fly tying differently and wanted to pass these
things on to others. Why don't we use these teachings to create some
effective flies of our own. Let me know what you all think? Is this not the
time? I will be willing to host.

Happy tyin,
Bryan Laing
