Hello all, I enjoy reading the latest & greatest on VFB, even though I usually just lurk and learn. I though of a way to contribute to the VFB list. I have built furled leaders for the past couple of years and have a few recipes for trout tapers, especially for small spring creeks. I have two ideas stimulated by all the interest on the list.
First - I would like to hold the First Annual Furled Fly Leader Swap!!!! Rules to follow in upcoming posts, but will probably include up to 20 participants. Second - I am by no means an authority on the subject but do have the technical skill to create a furled leader formula spreadsheet similar to the Leadercalc program for mono tapered leaders found on www.globalflyfisher.com It would be a free program to all on the list. I know that the masters (Jim, Hans, and Henk) have plenty of suggestions and I would gratefully appreciate their input! The necessary data will require the following: Name: Type: Dry, Wet, Streamer, Nymph, Salmon, Bass Bug, Misc. Rod Weight(s): (weights that work with the leader) Length of Furled Leader: Length/Diameter of Tippet: Material: (mono, uni-thread, monocord, Firewire, etc.) Diameter of Material: (3X, 6X, .004�, .007�, 2 lb test, etc.) Taper: (light, medium, heavy, weight forward, shooting) Taper Strands & Lengths: (ie. 14 @ 16� 12 @ 12� 10@ 8� 6 @ 14�, I can convert for those on the other side of the big pond) Additional info: (Any tips or info that would aid in the construction of the leader) In order to reduce the traffic on the list, please email me personally at: [EMAIL PROTECTED] with your recipes.
