The Chattahoochee River has the only trout fishing in tbe Atlanta metro
area. The section from Buford Dam down to Island Ford is the primary area,
but below Morgan Falls Dam to I-285 is a Designated Harvest section which
should still be good when you are talking about being here. It is open all
year. A little further north from where you'll be is Amicolola Creek,
another DH stream.

The DH areas will be good right up until the opening of trout season at
which time the worm & corn bunch will descend upon the water to harvest the
fish "en masse"

A little further to the east is Smith Creek (in Unicoi State Park) which is
the third DH stream. Nearby is the upper section of the Chattahoochee which
opens up when the season starts. There are many, many other small streams
that are available between these streams.

Check out http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ngto/ for a good list of streams
as well as current data about fishing throughout North Georgia -- it even as
a live camera set up on one section of the Chattahoochee.
