James, I tie Shenk's sculpin & white minnow, which have the kind of bodies I think you want. Using sculpin wool or rams wool, clip off the desired width and load in a dubbing loop (sparsely, it will compact when spun). As you wind each wrap, stroke back the fibers so the next wrap doesn't trap the last. Comb liberally before trimming to shape. Hope this helps.
