Rene, the LL blanks are fairly moderate action (at least for Sage) and I
think make great dry fly rods. I have one and it is a sweet casting rod.
It was replaced by the SPL (although they did continue some LL models after
the introduction of the SPL), and now by the new SLT. If I remember
correctly,it is available in 2 and 3 piece models (the 586-3 is 3 piece
model). It is a little soft if you plan on any heavy stuff with it. Of
course my experience has been the low end of the LL range - 3 and 4 wt. I
know one guy who has about 5 or 6 of them and would not fish anything else.
Of course, he is a "purist".

As to the RPL+, it is very fast, stiff with a relatively soft tip. It has a
fairly large profile butt end and some folks really like it. I have one and
frankly do not like it. That is probably my casting style since I prefer
slower rods in lighter weights, although I do like the Loomis GLX in larger
stuff (8 and above). It would probably work pretty well for out west in
heavy winds. It came in 2 and 4 piece models.
