Bass fly fishing was great before the cold front came in Thursday night. I
fished the foam frogs that I tied for Dan's bass/panfish swap and also fished
Ridderboss' and Dan's frogs. Started out with mine, lost it to a big fish,
wound me around a tree-top. So I switched to Boss's and caught a one and a
half pounder right away. After about 10 more casts that were fruitless, I
switched to Dan's frog. Bam, another pound and a half. Hard to believe, but
with all the warm weather we've had of late, the largemouth bass had begun to
start making their spawning beds and were in very shallow water. 2 1/2 to 4
feet deep. However, with the cold front that's come in and staying thru next
Thursday or so, the bass will ease back out into deeper water - warmer there
than in shallows. Worse thing a bass can do is get caught in shallows during
a drastic temperature drop. A friend of mine found a 20 pound bass , dead and
floating a couple of years ago in Lake Fork. This happened in February when
temp dropped from 75 degrees to 10 degrees over night. Lots of fish were
shocked/killed.

Love the German language. My wife is full blooded. Her grand parents came
over from near the Argonne forest in the early 1900's. Jody's maiden name is
Lutz, Grandparents - Haerther and Brauer. Can't get much more German than
that. My ancestors were sent from England to a penal Colony in north
Georgia, Kinda like they did with the penal colonies in Australia. so I guess
you could say that I decended from "convicts" ;>) Although, folks could be put
in prison for stealing a loaf of bread.

Somewhere along the line, I'll learn to speak German - truly one of the great
languages.

Have A Great Day.
