Dull scissors - try taking a fine whetstone, the type you use to sharpen
your knife, and very carefully, with the scissors open, laying first one
side and then the other on the whetstone and gently swirling it in circles
at the VERY SAME ANGLE as it lies there when you first put it on..keeping
the angle is very important. A drop of sewing machine oil on the whetstone
will help to smooth and keep it a bit cooler. Turn the scissors and use it
on the other side. This will sharpen up the blades again.
As to the vise..try this, take a hair dryer and blow on the nut which
you use to tighten down the vise and get it really warm, gently tap on the
nut and then, taking a rubber glove to hold onto the nut with , slowly work
at unloosening the nut. It often takes several times with this treatment,
but usually the tapping and heat as well as using the rubber to help protect
your fingers and hold on to the nut will eventually result in undoing the
hook from the vise. Then, before putting in the next hook, very carefully
re-read the instructions for setting how to adjust your vise. Hope this
helps. Joyce
