Is it worth reading? YES!!!

Of course this is my opinion -- therefore it is correct :) or as Gary
LaFontaine would say -- "... because no one else would want it..."

I can't remember the exact quote, but Gary LaFontaine called Ray Bergman
something like ...the "High Priest of Fly Fishing". I personally feel that
Bergmans TROUT is a great study for fly fishing. He gets a little long
winded, and once you get the hang of his writing style, the book is a good
read.

So far the number one thing I have gotten out of his book is PATIENCE and
PERSISTENCE. That seems to be a common thread though out the stories he
relates. (at least that is what I am getting out of it this time through)
I plan on reading the book again, say in a year or two, to find out what I
have missed this first time through, I'm currently half way.

I can tell you why I started reading the book TROUT.

FIRST, it seems like every other book I've read makes reference to Ray
Bergman.
SECOND, I read an article by Ray, online at some magazine archive web page,
and liked it (Ray died in 1967 -- a bit before WWW.)
THIRD, I have 4 of his books, TROUT, JUST FISHING, WITH FLY BAIT AND PLUG,
and FISHING WITH RAY BERGMAN. (so I didn't have to buy the books) My
grandfather was a friend of Ray's and 3 of the four copies I have were
autographed gifts from Ray to my Grandfather. (My grandfather is in one of
the books... can't remember which at the moment)
FORTH, and my personal favorite, because Bergmans full name is John Raymond
Bergman, and I am named after him.
