Hi Gary... Yep...sometimes you will get a stinky one. Make sure all the fat is removed from the skin side. Wash in your sink with a mild dishwashing detergent. Another tip is to add some softener/anti-static conditioner to the bath. Dry with a blow hair dryer. This is actually recommended for most materials.
