Byron,
I can add to q2 a bit:

Raphia is natural stuff, something like bast, from a certain tree. I had bought my lifetime support in a flower shop. They use it to secure plants in a garden.  You can make nice bodies from it, but it must be presoaked in water.
The swiss straw is synthetic stuff, much thinner and more fragile than the natural. I use ths swiss straw for winging on diving (and other) caddis. Great also for wing cases on nymphs.

Betreff: [VFB] Questions/Help

1) If I am not mistaken, there are several types/kinds of zap-a-gap. Which one is the best and why?

2) I need some Swiss straw. Is raphia (also spelled wraphia) the same thing?

Thanks
Byron
