hex is short for hexagenia limbata wich is a larg mayfly it is found throughout the us and canada and iam told even found in south america it hatches mainly at dusk with a spinner fall in the evening the nymph is found in silty bottoms and is three to four inches it is fished regularly for steel head the dry version usualy attracts large feeding fish at dusk through midnite good chance to catch a trophy during this time this is a fun hatch and a fun bug to tie
