Well, got started on the house early, got the remainder of the roof deck up
and put down what felt I had. Mixed the Tan paint for the outside and then
it clouded up. Started to sprinkle some rain around 1:00 so I called it a
day. To early to head for the house, to stir crazy to just sit, so I headed
for the Dam and the discharge pool.

Got some practice in with a weighted fly and sinking line in an off and on
slight drizzle. They do cast a bit different so it took me a bit to get the
hang of it and finely started to make some range and control. No I did not
hit myself in the back of the head ounce. It was a great difference from the
last several weeks. I managed to have 4 hits while practicing, very subtle
pulls but definitely hits. then after a few more practice casts to get some
more distance, ( About 40' was the best today), I used the count down method
to let the Hi-Vis Nymph get down a bit, then it happened.....WHAM. Hard hit
and hooked. I played it a bit, not really a fighter but a puller. Got it
right up to about 5' from the waters edge and it rolled a bit on the
surface..........Walleye...about a 14 to 16 incher....My First....... Then
it threw the hook, I just sat down and watched in amazement as it
disappeared. I went back to casting again after about 5 minutes to calm my
nerves. Got 3 more hits but no takes before I had to call it quits due to
the rain and temps dropping.

I couldn't hardly believe it, first time out strictly after these guys and I
actually hooked one, And on a fly I created just the other evening from tips
on the list. Now to get one in the net. After all the work I have been doing
on the house, this little break just made the future look a lot brighter.
Just think, here soon when the house is done I can sneak down here as often
as I like with the daughter and chase them on a regular basis.

Tomorrow I will be roofing if the weather improves, if it doesn't, who
knows......Walleye on a hook ???

See everyone on chat later tonight,
Jimi
