I had a shop like the one that wouldn't give you the time of
day..thankfully, it went out of business. My one shop has very poor
quality..road kill I've harvested is better than much of their fur and
feathers. They purposefully buy at cut rate prices, cut it up into smaller
pieces and up the price tag. I have another shop that has good quality, but
never what one needs..try and get a hank of Crystal flash from them in
pearl...they've been out of it for 3 months. So, I do buy from fly shops,
but mostly those who, like Byard, are available on the web and who will give
me a quality product at quality prices. I use Bob Marriotts, Al Beaty,
Byard, the Flyshop in california and rods come from Flylogic and Redington.
I tie with Mustad hooks (sorry Byard) as they are still my favorite and have
the best price..and can be had online as well. Do I shop the craft
stores..you bet. Best price on chenille comes from Lionbrand, also on the
web, and best Aunt Lydia's from a little shop in SD..who, BTW, also benefits
from having what I need when I need it. The bottom line, is quality goods
and services. Any shop who treats customers badly will not stay in business
over time. Any shop who has poor quality..the same. My two cents worth.
